AMBASSADOR OF GHANA ENGAGES WITH VARIOUS GHANAIAN COMMUNITY GROUPS IN ALGERIA

Mar 2- 2026

As part of Mission’s efforts at increasing engagements with the Ghanaian community, the Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, H.E. Edward Kwaku Cofie, held separate meetings with students and the general Ghanaian community on Thursday, 5th and Thursday, 12th February 2026, respectively.

The meetings which were conducted under a very convivial atmosphere allowed the students and the community to voice out all their concerns particularly those affecting their welfare and studies.

In his response, the Head of Mission congratulated the students and community for continuing to be the good Ambassadors of Ghana by being law abiding in all their endeavours.

He assured the students that Mission would continue to engage with the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat to ensure that their stipends and other allowances are timely paid to them. Ambassador Edward Cofie encouraged the students to learn hard like their predecessors to assume their rightful place in the development of the country.

He particularly had praise for the students in Algeria (AGOSA) for assisting the new students who arrived in November 2025 to settle down and adjust quickly to the terrain.

The Community was advised to leverage on the positive socio-economic developments in Ghana to form partnerships with interested parties in the host country in order to invest in Ghana. This would augment the government’s efforts at creating employment for the youth.

Ambassador Edward Cofie extended invitation to the students and the community to actively participate in the forthcoming 69th Independence week activities in order to throw light on the country’s historical antecedents’ democratic credentials, economic progress and socio-cultural capital.

The officials of the Mission who were present during the deliberations were Mr. Eric Hukportie, Minister-Counsellor/Consular; Mr. Vincent Obeng, First Secretary/Political and Economic; Mr. Laari Sualah Taufiq, First Secretary/Consular; and Mr. Prosper Chemogoh, Second Secretary/Accounts.
